Shared cabs, anywhere in India
Going the same way? Share the cab.
Sobat makes cab sharing simple: find people heading the same way, meet at one pickup point, and split a single Ola, Uber or auto. Fewer cabs on the road, a smaller fare for everyone.
सोबत (sobat) means going along together.
Why your commute feels stuck
Too many cars, too few people in them

One cab instead of three
A cab carrying one rider has three empty seats. When three people going the same way fill them, the same trip needs one cab instead of three: about a third of the fare each, and roughly a third of the emissions per person.

Questions
Good to know
How do I share a cab with someone going the same way?
Post your trip on Sobat with your pickup point, drop point and departure time. Sobat shows rides heading to the same area at about the same time. Join one, meet your group at the pickup point, and book a single cab together.
How is the cab fare split?
Equally per person by default, so three riders each pay a third. If you get off before the others, you can lower your own share. You settle the fare with your group by UPI or cash; Sobat never handles money.
Is sharing a cab with strangers safe?
Every rider is verified before their first ride, riders rate each other after every trip, and everyone meets at a public pickup point. You coordinate in a group chat without sharing phone numbers, and you can report or block anyone.
Can women choose women-only rides?
Yes. Women can choose rides where every rider is a woman, and Sobat enforces this on its servers, not just in the app.
Is Sobat a carpool app?
Not quite. Carpool apps connect you with someone driving their own car. On Sobat nobody drives anyone: people going the same way share a regular Ola, Uber or auto that one of them books.
Where does Sobat work?
Anywhere in India. Post a trip from wherever you are. The more people near you use Sobat, the quicker you'll find someone going your way, so tell your colleagues and friends.
Does Sobat book the cab for us?
No. One person in your group books a normal Ola, Uber or auto in their own app. Sobat never sees or handles the fare.
When can I use it?
Sobat is in testing now. Leave your email below and we'll tell you as soon as it's available on Android.
